Last year in October, we were fortunate to be able to show monotypes from Joanne Simon's butterfly series (featured in Boston Home magazine) as well as some of her sculptural works. Her Love Eternal series, included in honeyjones' Nudes exhibition earlier this year, was a light, airy, refined celebration of the female anatomy, with imagery reminiscent of Greek sculpture in the form of a textured 2D colorful palette.
Joanne's newest series is a labor of love, the fruit of many months in the studio and many turns of the printing press. Her focus with this series is to represent species of birds that have been endangered through deforestation and climate change. She has captured them in their grace and moments of fleeting glory, glimmering with hope and with a message to us all of what is in need of protecting and preserving.
I hope many of you are able to come view these breathtaking works of art in person.
Enjoy the images below in the meantime !

Happy Autumn !!!

About Joanne and her latest series, Amazing Grace: Precious Wings
I am a Londoner living in Boston. While I’ve been here for 20 years, I still bring an outsider's eye to American life.
I try to create works that are thought provoking. The themes I explore are often – though not always – inspired by cultural currents.
In these, my latest prints, I have used images of brightly colored Amazonian birds on the wing to convey the spirit of liberation, love, hope, redemption and rebirth embodied in these magnificent creatures, which are threatened by deforestation and climate change.
I am based at Joy Street Studios and print at Mixit Print Studio in Somerville. If you’re interested in learning more about me and my work, please visit www.joannesimonart.com. Follow me on Instagram @joannesimonart.
